Cancellations & Refunds

Plans change, so here's exactly what happens to your money when a booking is cancelled. The earlier you cancel, the more you get back, and if a teacher cancels on you, you're always made whole.
Cancelling a single session
If you cancel a session you booked, your refund depends on how much notice you give:
- 24 hours or more before the class: 100% refund
- 2 to 24 hours before: 50% refund
- Less than 2 hours before: no refund
If you cancel before the teacher has accepted your request, you always get a 100% refund. The partial amount kept in the 2 to 24 hour window partly compensates the teacher for holding the time slot.
If the teacher cancels
If a teacher cancels an accepted booking, you receive a 100% refund plus ₹100 in Haspeople credit for the inconvenience. Teachers who cancel repeatedly are reviewed and may be paused.
Packages
For multi-session packages, refunds are based on the sessions you haven't used yet:
- Before your first session: 100% refund
- Through the first half of the package: 50% of the value of the remaining unused sessions
- In the second half: no refund on remaining sessions
Completed sessions are not refunded, and any package discount is kept (refunds are calculated on the discounted price). If a teacher cancels a package, you're refunded for all remaining sessions plus ₹100 credit. You'll always see the exact refund amount before you confirm a cancellation.
No-shows
- Teacher doesn't show up: mark it in your dashboard and open a dispute. If confirmed, you get a 100% refund plus ₹100 credit.
- Student doesn't show up: the session is treated as delivered and is not refunded, since the teacher held the time.
Disputes
If something goes wrong with a completed session, you can open a dispute within 48 hoursof the scheduled end time. We review every dispute, usually within 72 hours, and the teacher's payout is paused while we do. After 48 hours, reach out to us and we'll help on a goodwill basis.
How refunds are paid
Refunds go back to your original payment method through our payment partner, Razorpay, and typically arrive within 3 to 5 business days. Your payment for a session is held and only released to the teacher after the class is completed, which is what makes these refunds possible.
