Language quietly decides who gets to feel at home. We started Haspeople to even that out.
Spend a little time as an outsider in a city like Bengaluru or Mumbai and you feel it fast. Not speaking the local language makes everything harder. Making friends, feeling settled, getting through an ordinary day, all of it takes more out of you. No government scheme can really fix that, because it's personal. Nobody can be made to learn a language.
But here's the thing we kept noticing. Most people genuinely do want to learn. They just can't find somewhere reliable that teaches them the real, local way, at a pace that fits the rest of their life.
Foreign languages tell the same story. Anyone hoping to study or work abroad usually finds a handful of coaching centres, and they're classroom-only, pricey because of the middlemen, and quietly underpaying the teachers doing the actual work. We thought it could be done a lot more fairly.
