Conversational Hindi tutors

Teachers · Hand-vetted tutors · 1:1 sessions · pay in INR.

Conversational Hindi lessons focus on speaking and understanding everyday situations — greetings, small talk, getting around — so you can actually use the language with real people, not just pass a test.

Hindi is India's most widely spoken language, and for much of the country it's the common tongue people fall back on when they don't share a mother language. It's written in Devanagari, and it's what you'll hear in the news, in markets, and across most of Bollywood.

Most people come to Hindi for practical reasons. You've moved to a new city for work, or you want to follow a film without reading subtitles, or you're tired of half-following conversations and nodding along. Of all the Indian languages, Hindi takes you the furthest the fastest.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Hindi tutor cost on Haspeople?
Each Hindi tutor on Haspeople sets their own rate, so prices vary by experience and session length. You always pay in INR with no hidden fees, and many teachers offer a discounted trial session.
Can I learn to speak Hindi without learning the Devanagari script?
Yes. A lot of learners start with spoken Hindi using romanised text and pick up Devanagari later. If you just want conversation for work or daily life, lessons can stay entirely on speaking and listening.
How long does it take to hold a basic conversation in Hindi?
Hindi is fairly approachable, and with regular practice, simple everyday conversations come within a few months. How fast really depends on whether you already know a related Indian language.
Will learning Hindi help me understand other Indian languages?
To a point. Hindi shares vocabulary and the Devanagari script with several North Indian languages like Marathi and Nepali. It won't make you fluent in them, but it's a useful head start and gives you broad reach across the Hindi belt.
